First off BioWare has failed me for the first time by being one of the few stupid, selfish companies to lock their save games to one PS3. Meaning that if you get a new PS3 you have to replay the game. Not such a big deal for games I've already played through a couple times and will never touch again BUT it becomes a big deal when you take games where BioWare has been very smart and made each game effect the next game. Because now all of a sudden I have to replay that game I had completely finished. That is not a good thing when the game in question takes about 40 hours to play through. I don't have that kind of time to just redo a game.for no good reason. Dragon Age is a good game and I wanted to replay it but not because I have to, especially considering now I have to do the game once more where I do everything the way I did the first time through. Good job BioWare, epic fail.
So having played through most of the game now I am even more disapointed for a number of reasons. First off, the main character Hawke, sucks. He's lame. I would much rather play as (and I do as much as I can) Verric, the narrorator. I think that explains enough.
And holy crap could the maps get any more repetative? The first game was known for having diverse and detailed playing areas. In this game not only to you constantly go to the same places over and over, sometimes just to hand something to someone, but the side quests all take place in one of three dungeons that are all exactly the same! That was cool in the early 90s but we've moved on to every dungeon being different now BioWare. You haven't done this in any of your other RPGs why cop-out now?
My rant on how disapointing this game has been will continue as I get further along...
OH! Talk about messing up, they changed what one race looks like entirely! Instead of being giant humaniods, Sten's race is now giant troll-like creatures with horns and white skin... Sten was black!
And another thing. Now when a game relies as heavily on combat and tactics and advantages as both Dragon Age's do you expect there to be a certain level of strategy available in combat. You expect as an archer to be able to sit with a clear sight line on a safe higher level and shoot down on enemies. No. You must have a straight path to them, ON THE SAME LEVEL, as you. Apparently we are back to the days of PS1 when you couldn't aim up or down.
